In a week from now, Emmaus House Complex, Awka, Anambra will be a host to the conglomerate of Nigerian Veterinary doctors as the 46th annual Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association conference is set in motion. This year’s conference is tagged “The Veterinarian & Challenges in Globalization.” The topic sounds interesting but I wonder what the plan is for solving issues confronting Veterinarians in Nigeria. I am wondering why the theme doesn’t better address our veterinary problems nationally. Based on the theme, what do we stand to benefit from this global discussion and how do we contribute as a Veterinarian in Nigeria? I do hope that the different sessions prove me wrong.
My personal persuasive word to all colleagues is to see beyond the theme and see how we can move the profession forward. Let that be the propelling force!
If you are home or abroad wanting to take time off, being at the conference would be a good place to unwind and meet old friends and colleagues. It is not too late to register if you’re planning to attend. If you do attend, be sure to provide us with your personal report of the conference.
With a collective effort, we can together build an ever-emerging veterinary practice in Nigeria.
